Fred Allen Hankins, 92, of Lexington, passed away peacefully, Friday, April 24, 2026, at his home.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 1, 2026, at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Sammy Allison officiating. The family will recieve friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 1:00 - 1:45 PM, prior to the funeral service. There will be a procession from the funeral home to Forest Hill.
Fred was born in Tazewell County, VA, on May 26, 1933, to the late Joseph and Sarah Brooks Hankins. Fred will be remembered for his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his love for his family, his kindness, his giving heart, his love of cracking jokes, and his hard work. Anyone who knew Fred knew he had a love for the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by the love of his life, Ada Mae Pennington Hankins; daughter, Betty Jean Robicheau; son, Roy Allen Hankins; brothers, Junior Hankins (Mary), Charlie Hankins (Ruby), Bill Hankins (Anne), Otis Hankins, Jimmy Hankins (Phyllis); sisters, Della Phillips (Tom), Edna Patton (Willie), Shirley Bishop (James), Pearl Fox (Vernon), Clara Wood (James) and son-in-law, Tim Love.
He is survived by his daughters, Jackie Vestal (Ralph) and Clara Love (Eddie Phillips); grandchildren, Julie Aker (Jim), Amanda Crouch (Nathan), Angie Haynes, Jennifer Craver (Zach), Daniel Love, Jeremy Haynes (Casey), and Christopher Hankins (Rhonda), great grandchildren, Makayla Crouch, Gabriel Crouch, Logan Love, Asher Haynes, Noah Haynes, Graylan Craver, Evan Craver, Clair Craver, Reuben Hankins and Cillian Hankins, brother, Stanley Hankins (Phyllis), sister-in-law, Linda Hankins and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Well Care Hospice for their care and compassion provided to Fred during his period of declining health.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Fred's memory may be directed to Well Care Hospice, 146 Dornach Way, Bermuda Run, NC 27006.
