Freddie “Fred” Edward Smith, age 77, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, December 2, 2017. He was born in McCarr, Kentucky on February 3, 1940 to the late Henry Edward and Mildren Ann Smith. Fred and his brother Bobby Keith were raised by two loving grandparents Dora Doreen and Forest Edward DeHart. Fred attended Matewan High School in Matewan, WV. He served in the US Army. Fred retired from Salem Electric Company after 39 years of service where he was a project manager. He was an avid outdoorsman. On this day we give thanks for this Godly man who has touched many lives as he had drawn closer to God. This loving husband, daddy, papaw and friend made an impact on lives throughout the years and he has left a footprint on the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife (Momma) Nancy Smith; daughter Debbie Hester and husband Brad (Ryan and Jacob Hester) of Advance; son, Mike Smith and wife Libby (Emily Place and husband Jacob and Lane Smith) and two great grandchildren Lilah and Adeline Place) of Kernersville, and his loving and devoted brother Bobby Keith Smith of Amelia, OH. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 4th from 6-8 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel by Pastor Thomas Todd. Burial will follow at Maranatha Baptist Church.
