Fred Adkins

Frederick Thomas Adkins was born in Goochland County, Virginia on January 24,1940. He was the son of Frederick Beacham Adkins and Hilda Bower Adkins who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, he had two sisters, Doris Crowely and Adela Watlington who preceded him in death. He also had a Brother in law, Robert Lay Grubb and sister in law, Rochelle Grubb, who preceded him in death.
 
He graduated from High School in Ithaca, NY and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Business Degree. His professional life included developer, estimator, home builder and inspector.
 
 He loved entertaining his friends and family at his lake house on High Rock Lake. He created an ‘adult camp’ for his close friends every weekend in the summers with lots of special activities; boating, golfing, swimming and sailing and lots of good food!
 
 He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lou Grubb Adkins, his daughter Mary and her husband, Craig, and his son, Mark Adkins. He is also survived by three nephews, Gordon Grubb and wife, Sallie Grubb, George Grubb and husband, Dave Serrano, and Clay Grubb; and two nieces, Dawn Watlington and Tyler Watlington; and nine great nieces and nephews.
