Gail Tucker Bailey

September 20, 1944 — October 29, 2023

Gail Tucker Bailey, 79, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Hospice of Davidson County.

Services will be held Monday, November 6 at 12 noon at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, interment at Salisbury National Cemetery will follow.  Family will visit with friends 6:00 and 8:00 pm Sunday, November 5.

Gail Bailey was married to the love of her life at the age of 18 and was able to travel around the world as a military spouse.  She spent her life raising her 5 children.  Her family meant the world to her and she would do anything for them if she could.  She loved going honkey tonkin in the 70's and enjoyed country music, including Elvis, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynne, Little Jimmy Dickens, Johnny Cash etc.  Any given day, you would find Gail watching westerns with her husband. She loved to color and completing word find puzzles.  She was an amazing cook and made the best sweet potato casserole and macaroni salad.  Gail loved her grandchildren/great grandchildren and they loved her dearly.  Gail also was able to love on her dear doggy, Lilly, who she rescued in 2009 and passed away just weeks before Gail went home to be with Jesus.

Gail was born September 20, 1944, to Hubert Montgomery Tucker and Mamie Elizabeth Hughes Tucker.  She was employed with Dixie Furniture for many years and was of the Baptist faith.  She is preceded in death by her loving parents, her sister, Jacqueline Hughes, and brothers, Robert, James, Odell, Melvin, Cletus, and Jerry.

Left to cherish her loving memories is her husband of  60 years and 10 months, Joe Richard Bailey, her sons, Richard Lee Bailey, Hubert Leland Bailey, wife Sandra, and Gary Wayne Bailey; daughters, Danylla Harrison and husband, Tommy, and Darla Gail Jacobi and husband, Mike; brother, David Tucker, wife Brenda; sister Polly Coppley, and 9 grandchildren ; Bethany Ruffner (Matt), Michael Bailey, Jesica Rogers (Brandon), Amber Bailey, Krysta Bailey, Anna Workman, Kaylynn Bailey, Sophia Bailey, Alex Ray, and 2 great-grandchildren; Nelleigh Ruffner and Evelyn Ruffner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.

Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington will be serving the family.
