Gary Curtis Carter, 54 of Riverview Rd. Lexington died Wednesday August 12, 2009 at 2:45 PM in Hinkle Hospice House after a serious illness of one month. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Second Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Carter was born in Guilford County on November 15, 1954 to Jimmy Curtis Carter and Sarah Tussey Carter. He was a former employee of Design Concepts in High Point and a member of Second Presbyterian Church. He attended UNC Charlotte and was an avid fan of Duke University. His father and wife, Debra Cannon Carter preceded him in death.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Lexington are son, Wesley Curtis Carter of the home, stepson, Matthew Kuhn and wife Molly of SC and stepdaughter, Elizabeth Sandrock and husband Ronnie of SC, brother Ted Carter and wife Sharon of Durham, and sister Marla Eckel and husband Geof of Charlotte and one granddaughter, Rayleigh A. Carter, and three step grandchildren, Grayson Sandrock, Eli Sandrock and Hannah Beth Kuhn.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

The family would like to thank Dr. Nathan Streer and his staff at Lexington Community Cancer Center and the staff at Hinkle Hospice House for the care of Gary.
