Gary Boyd Hedrick, 67, of the North Carolina Veteran’s Home, Black Mountain, died Thursday, February 25, 2016, at the home.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ, with the Rev. William Sowers and Chaplain Jack Taylor officiating. Inurnment with military graveside rites conducted by Davidson County Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall from 1:30 to 2:45 prior to the service.
Mr. Hedrick was born July 1, 1948, in Davidson County, to Boyd Lee Hedrick and Louise Farlow Hedrick. He served in the U.S. Airforce and was a draftsman for Link Taylor for 17 years and was later employed with Freightliner. Mr. Hedrick was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of High Rock Bass Club. He was a 1966 graduate of Central Davidson High School and earned his Associates Degree in 1968 from Davidson County Community College in Drafting.
Surviving are his father of Lexington; brothers, Dr. Greg Kent Hedrick and wife Lynn of Lexington and Mark S. Hedrick and wife Janet of Delco; and sister, Julie Wilson and husband George of Lexington. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Adam Hedrick of Raleigh, Emily Hackett (Todd) of Atlanta, Elizabeth Lanning, Jonathan Lanning, Jacob Lanning, George Wilson, Jr. and Judy Wilson, all of Lexington, Jeremy Reece (Nichole), Kinley Reece, Jennifer Smith (Bradley), Ashton Smith, Easton Smith and Sadie Louise Smith, all of Delco.
