Gary Whitehead

July 15, 1957 — February 20, 2016

The greatest man on earth passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, at 9:45 at High Point Regional Hospital. The funeral will be 3p.m. Thursday, at Meadowview Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Chris Bitterman, David Hatcher and Rodney Merrill officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside rites will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and other times at the home. Gary Whitehead was born July 15, 1957, is now resting peacefully in the arms of his Heavenly Father. Gary loved life to its fullness. He was a man who would give anyone the shirt off his back. He helped so many people without hesitation and never expected anything in return. He loved giving life lessons to people and showing them the righteous path of salvation. He was the most wonderful, loving, compassionate husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend that anyone could ever have. He had the most awesome sense of humor and knew how to bring out the best of any situation. Mr. Whitehead was a graduate of Davidson County Community College and owner/operator of Church Worx. He attended Meadowview Presbyterian Church and was a member of Lexington Memorial Lodge 473 and the Scottish Rite. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Gayle Tysinger Whitehead of the home; daughters, Christy Whitehead Akins and husband Brent of Winston-Salem, and Brianna Whitehead of the home; sons, Jason Whitehead and wife Kebie of Lexington, and Drake Whitehead of the home; five wonderful grandkids, Mazie and Maddox Whitehead, Christina, Michelle and Victoria Akins; his parents, Jack and Judy Whitehead; brother, Mark Whitehead and wife Debbie of Lexington; God-daughter, Casey Walker of Kernersville; in-laws, Lloyd and Betty Tysinger of Lexington; brothers-in-law, Cecil Tysinger and wife Teresa and Tony Tysinger; and several close nephews and their spouses. Memorials may be made to Crisis Ministry of Davidson County, 112 East First Avenue, Lexington, NC 27292.
