Gayle Tysinger

The Lord has a new Angel in Heaven, Gayle Tysinger, better known as “NANA”. Gayle died at the age 77 at her home on Patricia Lane, Lexington on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. A memorial service will be held 4:00 pm Sunday, May 22, 2016 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with her son Mark Tysinger officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 4:00 pm prior to the service. Gayle was born in Davidson County May 28, 1938 to Robert Lowell and Magdalene Johnson Hopkins. She had previously worked for Winn Dixie, Food Lion, Lanier’s Hardware and the cafeteria of several schools in Davidson County. Gayle was a 1957 graduate of Lexington High School, where she served as President of the Elvis Pressley Fan Club. She actually met him in person when he came to Lexington, she received a kiss and an autograph for her efforts and she remained a lifelong fan. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 47 years, Luther Ray Tysinger in July 2004. Surviving are her daughter, Vicki Brinkley (Scott) of Lexington, son, Mark Tysinger (Barbara) of Lexington; grandchildren, Christi Brandham, Andy Barnette and Anthony Barnette; great-grandchildren, Clara, Claudia, Charlie, Zoe, Zavior, Autumn, Memphis, Bailey and Aubry; step-grandchildren, Conard and Ashley Brinkley; her beloved cats, Abby and C.C. that she loved and cherished.
