Gene Briles

Walter Eugene “Gene” Briles, 61 of Owens Rd., Lexington, died Monday April 30, 2007 in Forsyth Medical Center after an illness of 6 months. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday in Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel with Pastor Clyde Akers and Rae French officiating. Inurnment will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Briles was born in Davidson County on October 26, 1945 to Staton Briles and Dorothy Young Briles. He was a former supervisor at Foam Tech, Inc. and owner and operator of Gene’s DJ Service. He loved beach music and was a member of the Association of Beach & Shag DJ’s, a member of Salisbury Shag Club, High Rock Lake Shag Club, Winston Salem Shag Club, High Rock River Rats and was an avid supporter of SOS at North Myrtle Beach. He was preceded in death by his father. Surviving are his wife, Vicki Barker Briles of the home, daughters, Stephanie Foley and fiancé Ronnie Bowman of Thomasville and Amanda Barber and fiancé Jason Lilly of Lexington. Three grandchildren, Dustin Foley & friend, Kirsten Watson of Charlotte; Chance Hailey and Lane Hailey both of Lexington. His mother of Thomasville and brothers, Staton “ June Bug” Briles of Thomasville and Bill Briles of Lake Charles, LA and sister Tina Hulon of Thomasville. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington and at other times at the home on Owens Rd. Memorials may be directed to Nazareth Children’s Home, P. O.
