Gene Duckworth

Marion Eugene “Gene” Duckworth, age 64 of Western Blvd. passed away Friday morning at his home after a period of declining health.   A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Grace Episcopal Church with Rev. Dr. Tom King officiating. Private inurment will be held at a later time in the Church Columbarium. The family will greet friends after the service in the Undercroft of the church.   Gene was born in Burke County, NC to Paul Ervin and Rosalee McMahon Duckworth. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, had served as Senior Warden and a member of the choir. He was Vice-President of the American Children’s Home and a member of the Junior Order of the United American Mechanics. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his half-brother, William “Billy” Duckworth.   Gene is survived by his wife, Bonnie Wagner Duckworth of the home; daughter, Carrie Ingram (Allen) of Lexington; son, Matthew Duckworth (Victoria) of Cary, NC; grandchildren, Rachel, Ford and Ruby Ingram; sister, Cathy Villagomez.   In lieu of flowers memorials should be directed to American Children’s Home, PO Box 1288, Lexington, NC 27293 or to Grace Episcopal Church, 419 South Main Street, Lexington, NC  27292.   Online Condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
