Gene Parker Mitchell

Gene Parker Mitchell 73 passed away Thursday morning, June 9, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel with Father Stephen Hoyt officiating. A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Gene was born on March 21, 1943 in Norfolk, VA to Lewis Judson Mitchell and Juanita Vick Mitchell. He served in the US Air Force and later graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. He retired as Chief Financial Officer for Transitions Optical and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons. Gene was preceded in death by his parents. He loved playing golf, and was a 30 year member of Sapona Country Club and enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with his family, especially his beautiful granddaughters. Surviving is his wife Suzanne Mancuso Mitchell of the home; sons, Patrick Gene Mitchell (Susan) of Garner, NC, Kevin Scott Mitchell of Orlando, FL; a brother-in-law, Robert Mancuso of Alexandria, LA; brothers, Bill Mitchell (Pat) of VA Beach, VA, Dick Mitchell (Betty) of Windsor, VA; two grandchildren, Samantha and Ally Mitchell.
