Geneva Sharpe Mellon, age 99 of Lexington Health Care, formerly of Junior Order Home Road, passed away Sunday morning at Lexington Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Fairmont Presbyterian Church where she was a member conducted by Rev. Randy Hall. Burial will follow the service in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of daughter, Julia Haire, on Woodhaven Drive, Lexington.
Geneva was born Feb 03, 1911 in Davidson County to Ira Alexander and Annie Katherine Miller Sharpe. She was married to Robert Davidson Mellon who preceded her in death December 8, 1981. Geneva was retired from PPG Industries. At Fairmont she was past Sunday school and Youth Leader, and Circle Chairperson. She was a member of PPG Retirees Club, and Linwood Home Extension and Senior Citizens Clubs. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by a brother Claude Alexander Sharpe and four sisters, Hilda Sharpe Carter, Lucille Sharpe Leonard, and Irene Sharpe and Margaret Sharpe Spainhour and son in law, James “Jimmy” Haire.
She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Jean Mellon Styers, and husband Arvil and Julia Anne Mellon Haire; four grandchildren, Phillip Styers, Celia Stalvey, Susan McCormick and Anna Gobble; 6 great-grandchildren, Terry Ward McCormick, Jr., Caroline Stalvey, Caby Styers, Jacob Gobble, Abbegale Styers and Harrison Gobble and a brother Daniel Charles Sharpe of Lexington and one sister, Bobbie Sharpe Walser of Lexington.
