Geneva Gobble Whitman, age 83 of Tall Pines Road, Lexington, passed away Friday night (January 21, 2011) at Hinkle Hospice House. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday (January 26, 2011) at Bethesda United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Marshall officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will greet friends following the service in the Sanctuary.
Geneva was born in Davidson County, April 2, 1927 to Arthur Lee Gobble and Ida Ree Brinkley Gobble. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. She was a self employed Cosmetologist and later worked with Mrs. Hanes Moravian Cookie Bakery. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy Lee Whitman, Sr. in 1996 and a sister Johnsie Grubbs.
Surviving are; one daughter, Kathy Whitman Huff of Lexington; two sons, Roy Lee Whitman, Jr. and wife Carol and Terry Whitman and wife Kathy all of Lexington; five grandchildren, Scott Huff and wife Penny, Bradley Huff, Danielle and Michaela Whitman, and Annette Hedrick and husband David; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Sowers of Lexington.
