George Thomas Burris

George “Tommy” Thomas Burris, age 83, of Welcome, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 at his home. There will be no formal funeral services. Mr. Burris was born on April 3, 1932 in Rowan County to James Zeb Burris and Lala Marie Goodman. He was a retired truck driver from Roadway, and was a member of Grace Baptist Temple in Winston Salem, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jay Shuping; and a sister, Margaret Proctor. He is survived by his loving wife, Eula Stewart Burris of the home; his daughter, Cathy Conrad (Barry) of Welcome; a sister, Coleen Vannoy; a granddaughter, Stefane Leonard of Welcome; and six great grandchildren, Ryan Leonard, Kody Leonard, Kaci Leonard, Kyle Leonard, Emmi Leonard, and Apache Shuping.
