George was born on December 8, 1944, in Davidson County, to the late George L. Charles and Beatrice Parks Charles. He worked for many years in heating and air at Southern Services of Lexington.

He greatly loved the outdoors, spending time riding his four-wheeler, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. George adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and the memory of his devotion to his wife and children will always be cherished.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Byerly Charles, and sister, Lauraetta Burnett.

Left to carry on his legacy is his daughter, Andrea Charles (Rick Tulbert), of Lexington; his son, James Charles (Franlyna), of Lexington; brother, Wayne Charles (Lynda), of Lexington; grandchildren, Brittney Fischer (Wes), Brianna Hedblad (Ryan), Lea Barringer, Amanda Perry (Justin), and Leslie Lanier; and great grandchildren, Skyler Poole, Phillip Perdue, Carson and Olivia Hedblad, Autumn, Aubrie, and Hudson Perry, Harper Lanier, Addyson and Allyn Fischer.
