George Joseph Davis

George Joseph Davis, 78, of Patricia Lane, died Friday, April 08, 2016, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. The funeral service will be held 12:00 pm Tuesday April 12, 2016 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Koontz officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm in Salisbury National Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by The Davidson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until noon, prior to the service. Mr. Davis was born November 21, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Joseph McCrudden and Florence Gallager Davis. He was an electrical engineer for East Coast Construction and a member of West Side Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. He stayed busy doing projects and always helping others and loved to fly. He was an active member of the Gideons, Lexington Camp and loved to spread the work provided by them. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Russell Scott Davis. Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret Ann Gorman Davis of the home; son, Daniel Michael Davis of Lexington; daughter, Suzette Davis Aiken (Richard) of Lexington; five grandchildren; Kimberly Jewel (Clayton) and their children, Chase Lowery, C.J. Jewell, Hali Jewell and Hannah Jewell. Additional Grandchildren: Matthew Davis, Dava Herr, Chance Davis and Naomi Davis.
