George Trade Elkins, 75, of William Street, died Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, following a one year illness.
There will be a private service held.
Mr. Elkins was born October 15, 1936, in Alamance County, to John Ervin Elkins and Adelaide Davis Elkins. He earned his Master’s degree from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He was a teacher and guidance counselor in the Davidson County School system and retired as a sales representative from Horace Mann Insurance Company. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Salisbury. Mr. Elkins was active in sports during his high school years and later was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America receiving the God and Country award. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Don H. Elkins; and sister, Vivian Walsh.
Surviving are son, Scott Elkins and wife, Jane; daughter, Christina Lanier; grandchildren, Meagan Drake, Mandy Elkins and Wendi Elkins; and brother, John E. Elkins, Jr.
