George Franklin Feezor,Jr.

George Franklin Feezor Jr., 78, of Lexington, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem after a short illness. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Forest Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites by Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Feezor was born Jan. 9, 1929, to George F. Feezor Sr. and Fleta Wommack Feezor in Winston-Salem. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of Draughn's Business College. Mr. Feezor played semi-pro fast-pitch softball, pitching for 14 years in Winston-Salem leagues; he was recruited by the St. Louis Cardinals. He worked for Western Electric for 14 years prior to establishing Fab Masters in 1969 where he served as president. In 1971, he created several Fab Masters slow-pitch softball teams, which won 400 tournaments and competed in seven national championships. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and member of the Southern Eagles Motorcycle Club. He was a member of American Legion Post 8 and the Lexington Moose Lodge. At his retirement in 1990, he followed in the footsteps of his father, who was the farm manager for P.H. Hanes in Winston-Salem. He owned and operated Grassy Creek Ranch in Tyro where he raised longhorn cattle. Mr. Feezor was preceded in death by his second wife, Laura G. Feezor; a sister, Frances Perry; and a brother, Leroy Feezor. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn James Feezor; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marion and Jerry Venable of Siloam, Tonya and John Harrison of Albuquerque, N.M., and Billie and Franklin Lyon of High Rock Lake; three grandchildren, Benjamin Feezor Venable, Maggie Anna Venable and Laura Marie Harrison; three stepchildren, Gene Grubbs of High Rock Lake, Tracy Berrier of Lexington and Reggie Berrier of Tampa, Fla.; one stepgrandchild, Jacob Berrier; and his first wife, Joyce A. Ingram. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Memorials may be made to Davidson County Rescue Squad, P.O.
