Onzo “George” Charles Hartley, 86, of Tall Pines Road, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015, at Hinkle Hospice House after a two year battle with lung cancer.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Hepler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. and other times at the home.
Mr. Hartley was born May 10, 1929, in Davidson County, to Oscar Clinton Hartley and Laura Crews Hartley. He retired after serving the community at the Center Gulf filling station he operated. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Viola Lenora Tysinger Hartley who died November 18, 2003; daughters, Laura Adams and Bobbie Davenport; brothers, Harvey, Clarence, Clinton and Rob Hartley; sisters, Louise Moody, Mary Renslow, Peg Varner, and Addie Mae Link; and sons in law, James Hubbard and Buddy Brown.
Surviving are sons, Charles Hartley and wife LuAnn of Welcome and Terry Hartley and wife Angela of Lexington; daughters, Rita Brown of Lexington, Linda Ingram and Carol Hubbard, both of Welcome; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and special family friend, Emma Tysinger..
