George Edward Lanning

George Lanning, age 93 of Rowe Road, Lexington passed away Friday night (May 14, 2010) at his home.  Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday (May 17, 2010) at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlie Patrick officiating.  Burial will follow at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Sunday night at the funeral home and at other times at the home on Rowe Road.   Mr. Lanning was born in Davidson County March 6, 1917 to John Thomas Lanning and Mary Lanning Lanning.  He was a farmer, former employee of Burlington Mills and retired from Dacotah Mills.  He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia Michael Lanning in 1963, and 11 brothers and sisters.   Surviving are; two daughters, Layne L. Walser and husband Terry of Linwood and Rhonda L. Money and husband Jimmy of Lexington; four sons, Ed Lanning and wife Barbara, Luther W. Lanning, Robert W. Lanning and wife Sandra and Billy D. Lanning all of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Angela Myers, Jennifer Parsley, Lisa Yarborough, Tammy Rhodes, Stacey Money, Jeremy Money, Jamie Lanning and Travis Lanning; seventeen great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Tetter of Lexington; and a special dog Candy.   A special thank you to Amanda Fulp Lanning and Hospice of Davidson County for the special care they gave to Mr. Lanning.   Memorials should be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC  27292.       Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
