George W. Mecimore Jr.

September 23, 1933 — May 19, 2022

George W. Mecimore Jr.’s journey of the life, peacefully ended Thursday, May 19, 2022, at his home in Welcome, N.C. He was surrounded by loving family and caregivers.

A funeral service will held 4:00 pm Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Center United Methodist Church in Welcome with Rev. Mitch Wilson conducting services.

The family will receive friends from prior to the service from 3:00 to 4:00 Sunday at the church.

George was born September 23, 1933 in Davidson County to George W. Mecimore Sr. and Beluah Myrtle Talton Mecimore. He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Center United Methodist Church in Welcome N.C.

George attended Welcome School and following graduation he entered the US Army where he served as a Military Policeman. After his service, he married the love of his life, Janice Redmon Eagleston of Winston Salem. George attended State College where he became a skilled welder and fabricator. He spent the next 40 years working in metal fabrication. He supervised, certified and mentored many employees. Upon retirement, he enjoyed farming and long golf cart rides with Janice and their dog Maggie as well as spending family time together as one of his favorite past times. He enjoyed and loved his neighbors as well. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marcine Wicks.

He leaves loving memories of his wife, Janice E. Mecimore; Daughter, Vanessa M. Henry (Brian) of Cramerton N.C.; granddaughter, Haley R. Stewart and grandson, Isaiah J. Hunn, Bobby Lee Bowman, sister-in-law of Charlotte N.C. along with nieces and nephews, cousins of extended family. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to George’s caregivers for surrounding him with love and comfort. We are forever grateful.

With our deep appreciation and gratitude, the family acknowledges, calls, and other expressions of kindness and concern shown during our bereavement.
