George Carroll Pratt, 76, of Lexington peacefully passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at his home. His wishes are that a funeral service is not held due to concerns for friends and family during the COVID pandemic. Mr. Pratt was born August 2, 1945, in California, to Franklin Pierce Pratt Jr. and Helen Frances Daughtery Pratt Miller Dare. George was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion, NC. He also proudly served his country in the United States Navy on nuclear submarines for several years. His academic achievements included graduating from Boyden High School then further obtaining an associate degree from Rowan Technical Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Houston in Clear Lake, Texas. George was particularly fond of his BHS ’64 classmates who created some of his happiest memories. He had a long and distinguished career as an electrical/electronics engineer. In addition to spending time with family, George enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Sarah Ellen Moss Pratt of the home; one son, Todd Franklin Pratt (Stephanie) of Raleigh; one brother, Franklin Pierce Pratt II of Florida; one stepbrother, Tom Miller; and one stepsister, Diana Rainey.
