George "Sonny" Edward Gainey

George "Sonny" Edward Gainey, 64, of Dorsett Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem as a result of an automobile accident. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Community Baptist Church by the Revs. Brian Workman and Barry Brown. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Gainey was born Jan. 28, 1943, in Cabarrus County to J.B. Thomas Gainey and Frances White Gainey. He attended Community Baptist Church. He retired from PPG Industries and served in the Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronald "Buster" Gainey. Surviving are his wife, Myra Ward Gainey of the home; a son, Curtis Gainey and his wife, Debbie, of Lexington; two daughters, Melissa Barnhill and her husband, Keith, and Michelle Hall and her husband, Robbie, all of Lexington; seven grandchildren; a brother, J. Roy Jackson of Mt. Croghan, S.C.; and two sisters, Patsy Hall of Stanley and Carolyn Wood of Dobson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the son's home at 1184 Fred Miller Road.
