Georgia Hamlin Bates

Georgia Hamlin Bates, age 81 of Northside Drive, Lexington passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center.

A private service will be held.

Georgia was born in Surry County, NC on March 29, 1939 to Steve Hamlin and Bessie Draughn Hamlin. She was a member of Tyro United Methodist Church and worked for Community Drug Store for many years. She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, H. Bruce Bates.

Surviving are her daughters, Angie King (Terry), Betsy Howell (Chuck) and Jennifer Doherty all of Lexington; grandchildren, Sara King, Laura King, Zeb King, Travis Howell (Tiffany), Miranda Howell, Natalie Fowler and India Fowler; a sister, Pattie Tano of Lexington; nephew, Greg Tano (Scarlette), Mitzi Gurkin (Kint), Rena Long (Tony) and Aundi Stilwell (Chris) and serveral great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her loving neighbors and friends.
