Georgia Brooks Buchanan

Mrs. Georgia Brooks Buchanan, 98, formerly of Lexington, died Monday, October 9 at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville after declining health.  A memorial service will be held 1:30 PM Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Piedmont Crossing, Unity Place. The family will greet friends following the service. Mrs. Buchanan was born January 11, 1919 in Spartanburg, SC to George Washington Brooks and Essie Cartee Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Rev. Horace W. Buchanan; along with one sister and 4 brothers. Surviving are her sons; Jim Buchanan and wife, Betsy, of Lexington and Charles Buchanan and wife, Judy, of Columbia, SC; her grandchildren, Jimmy Buchanan (Monique) Holly Fishback (Steven) Chuck Buchanan and Tiffany Buchanan; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary DeGrandis and 2 brothers, Bud and Louie Brooks.
