Geraldine Wimmer

Geraldine Lanier Wimmer, 82, of Welcome Bethesda Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem after a declining illness of three months. A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Center United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Dr. Steve Pillsbury. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. Mrs. Wimmer was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Davidson County to John Claude Lanier and Husie Hinkle Lanier. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jody Wimmer; three brothers, Joe Lanier, Bobby Lanier and J.C. Lanier; and one sister, Louise Hiatt. Surviving are her husband, Bobby Harmon Wimmer of the home; two sons, Gerald Wimmer and wife Judy and Woody Wimmer and wife Diane, all of Welcome; one daughter, Gina Cecil and husband Donald of Welcome; two brothers, Leonard Lanier and wife Patsy of Welcome and Randall Lanier of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Makel Wimmer and wife Megan, Charley Wimmer and wife Brooke, Laura Cecil and Austin Beck, all of Welcome; three great-grandchildren, Lily Wimmer, Brant Wimmer and Colten Wimmer, all of Welcome; and two sisters-in-law, Ruby Lanier and Nancy Lanier, both of Welcome.
