Gertha Kepley

Gertha Key Kepley, 85, of Lea Meadow Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Center United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Clay Morgan. A private burial will be held. Mrs. Kepley was born June 2, 1922, in Wilkes County to Samuel Key and Gennie Miller Key. She retired from Duracell and was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Franklin Kepley, who died Oct. 8, 2006. Surviving are her son, Larry Kepley and his wife, Donna, of Lexington; two daughters, Karen Allred and her husband, Roger, of Lexington and Betty Kepley of Welcome; her brothers, O.V. Key and Alton Key, both of Winston-Salem; her sister, Weta Phillips of Winston-Salem; a sister-in-law, Gloria Key; her grandchildren, Angie Ward and her husband, Bill, of Denton, Amanda Leonard and her husband, Chip, Laurie Kepley, Wesley Allred and his wife, Kristi, and Adam Allred, all of Lexington; and her great-grandchildren, Eden Ward, Sarah Benfield, Zeb Leonard and Lydia Leonard. The family will receive friends at the church after the memorial service. Memorials may be made to Center United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 179, Welcome NC 27374, Hospice and Palliative Care Centers of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103, or to the donor's choice.
