Gertrude Myers Jarvis

Gertrude Myers Jarvis, 91 formerly of Lexington, NC passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009 in Wilmington, NC.   She was born in Davidson County, NC on December 22, 1917 to the late Patrick Myers and Callie Waitman Myers. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles James Jarvis, Sr. and by her son Charles James Jarvis, Jr.   Gertrude was a longtime member of First Reformed United Church of Christ in Lexington and served as an elder as well as many other areas of church work. She had retired from the Lexington Developmental Center as an assistant teacher.   She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Connie and George Lancaster of Wilmington, NC; daughter-in-law Nancy Laymon Jarvis of Lexington; grandchildren, Chuck Jarvis, Richard Jarvis, Bill Lancaster, Joan L. Mazhari (Kookie), Libby L. Johnson (Kenneth), and Micki L. Burns (Ryan) and six great-grandchildren.   Funeral services will be 4 pm Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Davison Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Dr. Walter Patten. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
