Gilmer Wade Phillips, age 80, of Becky Hill Road, Lexington, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 24, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastors, Doug Pryor, Ken Harris and T.W. Bailey officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday night and at other times at the residence.
Gilmer was born in Davidson County, April 19, 1934 to Wade Thomas Phillips and Lona Veigh Hege Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents; his dear son, Gilmer “Lee” Phillips on May 31, 2013. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps.
Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Ann, of the home; his daughter-in-law, Betty Grainger Phillips; granddaughter, Karey Phillips; devoted family members, Gary, Joanie and Taylor Blankenship and many friends and neighbors.
