Gladys Briggs

April 20, 1917 — August 8, 2014

Gladys Burkhart Briggs, 97, of Briggstown Road and also of Dillon, SC, died Friday, August 8, at the Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Tuesday, August 12 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. James Byers. Burial will follow at Becks Reformed Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:00pm Tuesday prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Briggs was born April 20, 1917 in Davidson County to William Christopher Burkhart and Lilly Margaret Crotts Burkhart. She was the former Secretary/Treasurer for D.O. Briggs Lumber, Inc. and later worked for Briggs Realty, both in Dillon, SC. She was a member of Becks Reformed Church and also attended Bermuda Baptist Church in Dillon, SC. Her husband, Dermont Oscar Briggs, preceded her in death as well as her sisters, Ruth Briggs and Vera Young. She is survived by her son, Koszo Briggs of Dillon, SC; her daughter, Linda Loflin (Max), of Lexington; her grandsons, Mark Loflin (Sharon), Eric Loflin, Brant Loflin, and Philip Loflin (Lavonda); her great grandchildren, Mitchell Loflin, Erin Loflin, and Jake Loflin; her brothers, Clayburn Burkhart and Bryce Burkhart, both of Lexington; and her sisters, Theda Smith and Kitty Ann Greene, both of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Becks Reformed Church Cemetery Fund, 2845 Becks Church Road, Lexington NC 27292 or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Weiser and her Doctors in Winston Salem, as well as the staff of Hinkle Hospice House for their loving care and support.
