Gladys Hanes

Gladys Marie Cagle Hanes, 69, of Lexington went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Abbotts Creek.

A memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, June 23, 2022, in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 6 pm prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hanes was born in Richmond County on July 6, 1952, to Nathan Cagle and Elsie Mae Tilley Cagle. She worked for many years at Liberty Butcher Shop in Winston Salem and such a strong, caring woman whose love for her family knew no bounds. Mrs. Hanes was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother whose memory will be cherished forevermore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Rayford Hanes; her son-in-law, Michael Justice; and her brother, William Cagle.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Stephanie Justice, and Lois Hanes (Billy Deweese); a brother, Billy Cagle (Raynell); five sisters, Louise Wallace, Joyce Parson, Alice Lockhart (Chris), Mary Wilson (Bobby), Rayvon Everhart; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Harris (Jennifer), Austin Justice (Sarah), Christopher Hanes, Kaitlin Harris, Alexis Harris, Amber Justice (Teddy Holevas), and Dalton Justice; three great-grandchildren, Nathan Harris, Natalynn Harris, and Savannah Justice; one great-grandchild on the way; a special family friend, Brad Berrier; and a host of nieces and nephews.
