Gladys Hampton Hill

February 22, 1917 — December 24, 2011

Gladys Hampton Hill, age 94, of Mallard Ridge, formerly of Circle Drive, Lexington passed away at Mallard Ridge Saturday morning (December 24, 2011).  Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday (December 28, 2011) at Good Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Jamie Sink officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday.   Gladys was born in Davidson County, February 22, 1917 to John Wayne Hampton and Lillie Mae Weisner Hampton. She was a homemaker; a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church, long time member of the church choir, life member of the United Methodist Women and the Unity Circle, a faithful member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, and taught the Junior Class for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cromer Hill, a daughter: Nancy Carroll Hill, grandson, Alan Hampton Gallimore; daughter in law, Phyllis Poston Hill; sister, Perry Thomas; brother, Cliff Hampton.   Surviving are; two sons, Billy Hill and wife Mary, Von Hill; a daughter, Bonnie Gallimore and husband Steve of Lexington; all of Lexington; seven grandchildren;Flynt Hill, Bart Hill, Chad Hill, David Hill, Dr. Keith Hill,Mark Gallimore and Rodney Gallimore; seven great-grandchildren; Jeremy and Joshua Hill, Justin Hill, Riley, Katie and Wyatt Hill and Jacob Gallimore; two great-great-grandchildren;Daylen and Adalyn Hill; sisters, Grace Penland of Hickory and Louise Thomas of Winston Salem.   Memorials are to be directed to Good Hope United Methodist Church (Cemetery Fund) 10253 Hampton Road Lexington, NC 27295.   The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care received from the caregivers; Faye Graham, Vickie Anderson and Sue Aldish. The staff and residents of Mallard Ridge Assisted Living for their continuous compassion and utmost care.
