Gladys Gallimore Metters

Gladys Gallimore Metters, 90, of Yountz Road, died Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Abbotts Creek Rehabilitation Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Tim Gainey and Bynum Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Grove Lutheran Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, Rodney. Mrs. Metters was born December 10, 1925, in Randolph County to Ed Gallimore and Lilly Dunning Gallimore. She was retired from Frank Ix and Sons and was a member of East End Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David Metters; brothers, Ray Gallimore, Reece Gallimore and Robert Gallimore; and sisters, Jessie Frank, Mildred Nance and Virgie Jackson. Surviving are sons, Rodney Metters and wife Mary and Tim Metters and wife Sida, all of Lexington; daughter, Joyce Metters and husband John of Lexington; granddaughter, Ashley Garwood and husband Tony; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Jeweldean Franks of Denton.
