Gladys Viola Volkert Pye, 81, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022.
A celebration of life service will be held 1 pm Friday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church conducted by Pastor Jennifer Ginn. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
Mrs. Pye was born February 25, 1940, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to William F. Volkert Jr. and Gladys Spencer Volkert. She was very involved with activities at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and sang in the choir, was also a member of the Rainbow Girls and Lexington Chapter 98 Order of the Eastern Star. Her passion was her faith, church and family. Gladys was a loving wife, who will be missed by all.
Graduating from Olney High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1959, she later married the love of her life, Everett A. Pye Jr. in 1962. Gladys adored her two cats, Twinkles who lived to be 21 years old and Cuddles who is now two years old. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, love to bake and share her sweets with others. Gladys was a women of few words to say the least.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Everett A. Pye of the home; one sister, Amy Schwarz of Virginia; and three nieces, Carol, Ruth, and Alma.
