Gladys Lanning Reavis

Gladys Lanning Reavis, age 98, of Welcome passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Lexington.   A funeral service will be held at Arcadia Church of Christ at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 27, 2017 with Bobby Leonard, Buddy Cole, and Carlton Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Reedy Creek Church of Christ Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home on Hickory Tree Road.  Gladys was born in Davidson County on April 1, 1919 to William Thomas Lanning and Mattie Lou Phillips Lanning.  She was a member of Arcadia Church of Christ and was retired from Dixie Furniture.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Grady Reavis; her daughter, Audrey Faye Walser; two brothers; and three sisters.   Surviving are her son-in-law, Donald Edward Walser of Lexington; four grandchildren, Robert Walser (Kathy), Donna Chisholm (David), Carol Gallimore (Sid), Cindy Walser (Mike “Cal” Hines); seven great-grandchildren, Kristina Walser (Kerrie), Stanley Walser (Grace), Daphney Shoaff (Sam), Nicole Chisholm (Brad), Blake Gallimore, Jeron Gallimore, and Trey Gallimore; and three great-great-grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County at 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 in her honor.  Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
