Gladys Craver Wagner, 99, of the Brian Center of Lexington, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at the Brian Center after four years of declining health.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, by the Rev. Mark Denton. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Wagner was born July 1, 1906, in Davidson County to Alexander Phillip Craver and Ella Darr Craver. She was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, where she was a past president and executive secretary of the United Methodist Women and secretary of the administrative board of the church. She was president of the Ladies Bible Class at her church, where she had perfect attendance for six years. She also served as a past secretary for the Arcadia Senior Citizens and was voted Senior Citizen of the Month. She attended Greensboro Commercial School and retired as secretary and office manager of Grubb Oil Co., where she worked for 30 years. She was past president of the Lexington Credit Women's Breakfast Club, where she held every office and was a lifelong member. She and her husband, Edwin Ellis Wagner, were married Dec. 25, 1963, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1986. After her marriage, she attended Bethesda United Methodist Church until her health prevented her from doing so.
There are no immediate family survivors.
Extended family and friends can visit from 6 to 8 Friday at the funeral home.
