Glena Alexander Barber

Glena Alexander Barber, 91, of Lexington Health Care, formerly of Eastside Drive, died Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Lexington Health Care. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Reeds United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Gary Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2010, at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Mrs. Barber was born September 22, 1919, in Mecklenburg County, to Audrey Alexander and Mary Jackson Alexander. She was a former nursing assistant at Lexington Memorial Hospital and a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul G. Barber Sr.; son, Paul G. Barber; brothers, Robert Alexander and Jack Alexander; and sisters, Audria Stout and Peggy McClure. Surviving are sons, Stephen A. Barber and James Robert Barber and wife, Rhonda, of Lexington; daughter, Mary Ellen Myers and husband, Jim, of Lexington; six grandchildren, Jeff Barber and wife, Vanessa, Christy Nebrich and husband, Bill, Brent Barber, Shannon Myers, Stefanie McKinney and husband, Jason, and Alyssa Barber; and eight great-grandchildren, Nash McKinney, Julia McKinney, Mary, Alex and Luke McKinney, Hannah Barber, Zoe and Isaiah Moore. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lexington Health Care for their loving care shown to Mrs. Barber during her stay there.
