Glenda Forrest Hartley, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2025.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Tyro Methodist Church, with the Revs. Randy Foster and Chris Thore officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.
Glenda was born in Davidson County on August 22, 1939, to the late David Reid Forrest and Myrtle Smith Forrest. She dedicated her life to education, first as a teacher and later as a counselor for the Davidson County School System, where she guided and inspired countless students. A lifelong member of Tyro Methodist Church, Glenda was known for her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Thad Kerr Hartley.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Lorre Hartley Young (Chad); her cherished grandson, Alex Brian Young; two special adopted grandchildren, Mitchell Blake Roberts and Madison Marie Armstrong; her dear aunt, Hilda Vae Shoaf; a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly; and her treasured pet rabbit, Honey Bun-Bun.
