Glenda Newman Johnson, 76, of Lexington, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of February 28, 2026 at Trellis Supportive Care in Winston-Salem

She was a protective mother, a devoted wife, with a sharp mind, a deep pride for her family, and an unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Johnson was born on August 29, 1949. The youngest of three to James Max Newman and Lura Mable Amburn in Copperhill, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her two parents, her two brothers James Douglas Newman (2003) and Larry Joe Newman (2012). As well as her beloved Husband and friend Kennith Dale Johnson Sr. (2018), who she married October 23, 1981. Uniting forever her family of four and his family of five. Two of her children preceded her in death. Kennith (Nub) Johnson Jr. (2014) and Scotty Johnson (2015).

She is survived by her children Dell Phillips (Bonnie) of Mount Pleasant; Rodney Phillips of Lexington; and Tim Phillips of Salisbury, Suzie Everhart (Mark) of Lexington; Johnny Johnson (Lisa) of Lexington; As well as her ten grandchildren Zach, Bryce, Morgan, Somer, Alex, Baleigh, Chase, Christy, Mark, and Nicholas with four great-grandchildren Londen, Isaac, Luna, and Jayden

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 3rd from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Cedar Grove Baptist Church on NC-47 in Lexington. The burial will be on Wednesday, March 4th at 1:30pm at the National Cemetery in Salisbury.
