Ernest Glenn Bennett, 69, of Buena Vista Drive, died Saturday, October 4, 2014, at his home following a serious illness of one month.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Freedom Baptist Church with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be in National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014, and other times at the home.
Mr. Bennett was born December 26, 1944, in Davidson County, to Ernest Eugene Bennett and Jessie Cross Bennett. He served in the U.S. Army; was retired from Link Taylor Furniture; and was of the Baptist faith. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed cooking and grilling for them and he greatly enjoyed his time fishing.
Surviving are his loving wife, Becky Ree Craver Bennett of the home; daughter, Pam Bennett Walters and husband Tony of Lexington; grandchildren, Ashley Caudill and husband Stan of High Point and Amber Walters of Thomasville; great-grandchildren, Tanner Robinson, Talan Brennan, Emily Fuller and Devon Caudill; sister-in-law, Darlene Chaffin of Sunset Beach; brother-in-law, Ray Craver of Lexington; nieces, Christine Huff, Wendy Nemeth, Lori Craver; nephews, Tracy Craver, Barry Craver, Marty Craver; and favorite friend, Bobbie Callicutt.
