Glenn Edward Blum 64 of Welcome passed from this life to his heavenly home Tuesday, January 20, 2015. John 5:24 Most assuredly I say to you, he who hears my word and believes in him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, “but has passed from death into life.” He endured two strokes and fought pancreatic cancer before losing the battle to this cancer. The service will be at Lighthouse Baptist Church (Welcome) Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM and burial will follow in the cemetery at the church with Pastor Avery Varnadore and his cousin Pastor Randy Burgess of SC officiating. The viewing will be from 12 to 2 PM at the church before the service. Glenn was born in Union, South Carolina on April 2, 1950 to Russell and Francis Burgess Blum. He was preceded in death by his father. Glenn loved deer hunting until the stroke in 2011 which took his mobility. He loved to watch the Braves play baseball and Fox News. On Sunday he watched Christian TV and loved preaching and gospel music. Glenn loved singing in the choir at church and loved the church family. He was a plumber prior to his stroke. He graduated from North Davidson High School in 1968 and attended DCCC. He is leaving behind his wife of 43 years, Janice (Chris) Blum; their daughter, Jamie Clark with husband Eric and 2 loving grandchildren, Alaina and Evelynn. He leaves behind his mother, Francis of the home; brother’s Bruce of the home and Mark with wife Wendy along with a niece Sara Blum of Welcome. We would like to thank Dr. Ted Nifong and his staff for his service to Glenn. We want to thank Hospice of Davidson County and staff of Forsyth Hospital who were so great to Glenn each and every time he had to go. We had so many friends who helped with and offers of help from church and family; thank you. We do appreciate the cards and phone calls. We as a family want to thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the time we got to spend with Glenn. We also know we shall be reunited someday. Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church, P. O. Box 89, Welcome, NC 27374. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
