Glenn Elmer Hill, age 88, of Willow Oak Dr. died early Tuesday morning October 23, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House after a 6 week serious illness. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel conducted by Rev. John Woods Jr... Burial will follow in Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8- Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel.
Glenn was born in Davidson County on October 15, 1924 to Elmer C. Hill and Lillie Sowers Hill. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Midway United Methodist Church, and also a member of Midway Fire Department. Glenn was drafted in to the U.S. Army in 1944 and served as an Infantry Sharpshooter and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He was a Purple Heart recipient and was awarded many other decorations and citations. In addition to his parents Glenn was preceded in death by his older brother Ray Michael Hill.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Craver Hill of the home; three sons, Jimmy Wayne Hill, and Danny Elmer Hill of Lexington, and Donald Glenn Hill and wife Barbara of Winston-Salem. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bruce Hill and sisters, Mary Tesh and Edna Snider all of Lexington.
