Glenn Dayton Robbins, age 96 of Grayson Creek of Welcome, formerly of Hillside Drive, Lexington passed away Sunday at Grayson Creek.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Mark Rachels officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. and other times at the home of his daughter, Frankie, on Sowers Place.
Mr. Robbins was born July 16, 1917, in Packard, Ky., to Richard Lewis Robbins and Bertha May Smith Robbins. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a retired truck driver from Hennis Freight Lines and worked for Rowan County Parks Service, Dan Nicholas Park, as a campground director. He was a member of Journey Church of Lexington. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruby Lee Robbins; brothers, Virgil Robbins, Vernon Eugene Robbins, Donald D. Robbins; and sisters, Faye Robbins Ford and Rosalene Robbins.
Surviving are his daughters, whom he cherished so much, Frankie Sowers and husband R. Wayne of Lexington, and Mary Glenn Feldman and husband Allen of Seal Beach, Ca.; grandchildren, Glenn Eugene Wilson and Amanda Rush Shell; great-grandchild, Devin Blair Sink; brother, Kenneth M. Robbins of Burlington; and special friends who loved and helped care for Mr. Robbins, Kathy Bowman and Charles Rush.
The family would like to thank the staff of Grayson Creek and Dr. Marc Fedder for the extra love, attention, and care given to our daddy. Also the family would like to thank his neighbors for all the love and care they shared with him over the years.
