Gleta Wilson

Gleta Monteith Wilson, 77, of Lexington, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 29, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center from injuries she received in an automobile accident Aug. 19. A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Lamar Moore. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mrs. Wilson was born in Swain County on Jan. 18, 1935, to Suel Bryan Monteith and Julie Burns Monteith. She was a former nursing assistant with Triad Methodist Home. She was a member of Reeds Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Wilson, on Sept. 30, 2011; her parents; and sisters Gay McCarn, Rema Sisk, Ovilla Payne and Thama Hudson. Surviving are her son, John Cook and wife Polly of Lexington; daughter Glenda Johnson and husband Rick of Lexington; sons David Wilson and Randy Wilson of Lexington; daughter Susan Wood and husband Doug of Martinsville, Va.; seven grandchildren, John Paul Cook and Kelly, Matthew Joseph Catlin, Summer Allen Canovai and Lance, Cassandra Lynn Wilson, David Michael Wilson, Debra Ann Wood and Michelle Wood; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher Cooper, Eli Cook, Asher Cook and Bella Canovai.
