Gloria Jean Edwards Morrison, 80, of Davidson County, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025. Born on November 11, 1945, in Grundy, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Marian Arthur Edwards and Lydia Catherine Edwards.
Gloria is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Mack Morrison, and her loving children: daughters Angel Hughes and Joann Houghton (Jesse); step-sons Tracy Morrison, Randy Morrison, and Wayne Morrison. She is also survived by her brothers Junior Edwards (Crickett), Estil Edwards (Gail), and Kenneth Edwards. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Courtney McElroy (Brad), Anthony Rebello (Nichole), CJ “Troy” Lankford (Madeline), and Michael Rebello; as well as her adored great-grandchildren: Emma Rebello, Everest McElroy, and Jameson Lankford.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Troy Curtis Lankford; her daughter, Cathy Lankford; and her sisters, Faye Barnes, Hazel Owens, and Elizabeth Byerly.
Gloria will be remembered for her outgoing, joyful spirit—always ready with a laugh, a story, or a song. Though she loved people, she was truly a homebody at heart. Music was woven into her life from a young age, including time spent singing in the Emerald Quartet with her sister. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, a time that reflected her deep love for family and togetherness. She treasured holiday dinners, especially Christmas Eve gatherings, and she poured her heart into the time she spent with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She also had a well-known passion for shopping, always finding joy in the little things. She also deeply loved her church and church family.
The family will receive friends during a visitation, Monday, November 24, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m., at Davidson Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor Gloria’s life will be held the following day, Tuesday, November 25, 2025, starting 11:00 a.m. at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, with a committal service to follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
