Gloria G. Washburn

March 7, 1926 — January 30, 2019

Gloria Geneva Washburn, age 92 of Lexington, NC passed away on Wednesday, January 30 at Hinkle Hospice House after several years of declining health and a serious illness of two weeks.

In accordance with her wishes, a graveside service officiated by Rev. Brian Rummage will be held 2:00pm Saturday, February 2 at Forest Hill Memorial Park.  The family will see friends 12:30 to 1:30pm prior to the service at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington and other times at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Tom and Iris Mauney.

Ms. Washburn was born in Lexington on March 7, 1926, to Thomas Comer Washburn and Bettie Mae Beck Washburn.  Gloria was a long-time, faithful and dedicated member of Second Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Women of the Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, E.J., Frank, Archie and Wiley Daniel Washburn and sisters, Virginia Katen, Eunice Carpenter, Hester Wallwork, and Nancy Wallace.  Survivors include her sister, Iris W. Mauney (Tom), numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, great-great-great nieces and nephews, and a cousin, Ned Beck.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
