Gloria Geneva Koontz Young

Gloria Geneva Koontz Young, 85, of W. Center Street Extension, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Abbotts Creek Care and Rehabilitation Center. The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2010, at Reeds Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Revs. Dave Williams and Keith Heitman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Young was born April 9, 1924, in Davidson County to Theodore Koontz and Gladys Foster Koontz. She was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the WMU at her church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucy Koontz and Kathryn Elizabeth Koontz. Surviving are her husband, Foy William Young of Abbotts Creek Care and Rehabilitation Center; and a nephew, Ted Essick and wife, Nell, of Lexington; and sister-in-law Charlotte Beck and husband, Alex. Also surviving are Foy’s nieces and nephews, Tamara Snider and husband, Charles, the Rev. Keith Heitman and wife, Marilyn, Robin Mooningham and husband, David, and Tony Young and wife, Marlene; nine great-nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27360; or Reeds Baptist Church, 180 Reeds Baptist Church Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
