Goldie Briggs McCrary, 88, of Briggstown Community, died Monday, September 30, 2013, at Trinity Oaks Lutheran Home, following a three week illness.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013, at Becks Lutheran Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Angela Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter on Briggstown Road.
Mrs. McCrary was born March 3, 1925, in Davidson County, to Walter Briggs and Lestia Swing Briggs. At her church she was a former superintendent of the children’s department, Sunday school teacher and a member of the WELCA. She was a former employee of Erlanger Mills. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Woodrow McCrary who died June 15, 2002; granddaughter, Wendi Applegate Trexler; brothers, Everette Swing, Carl Briggs, Archie Briggs, Cletus Briggs, Paul A. Briggs, and James Briggs; and sister, Lucille Briggs.
Surviving are son, Dennis McCrary and wife Debbie of Charlotte; daughter, Paula Applegate and husband Robert of Lexington; grandchildren, Magan Bechtol and husband Chris, Susan Monteith and husband Ryan, and Holly Daniels and husband Doug; and great-grandchildren, Raegan Daniels, Grace Bechtol, Katie Bechtol, Colton Monteith, and Carson Monteith.
