Grace Ellen Younts Bowers, 94, of Robert Beck Road, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ with the Rev. William Sowers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2014, and other times at the home of her daughter on Robert Beck Road. Mrs. Bowers was born May 11, 1920, in Davidson County, to John P. Younts and Ollie May Kepley Younts. She was the oldest living member of Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Banks Boyette Bowers; a son-in-law, Paul W. Beck; brothers, Odell Younts and Columbus Younts; and sisters, Olin Alice Hedrick, Pearline Yountz, and Mary Hill. Surviving are son, Richard Wayne Bowers and wife Joy of Vanceboro; daughter, Lucy Beck of Lexington; grandchildren, Steven Beck and wife Karen, Randy Beck and wife Tammy, Chad Beck and wife Shelly, all of Lexington, Susan French and husband Joe, Jennifer Lewis and husband Stacey, all of Vanceboro; great-grandchildren, David Beck, Janna Beck, Bethany Beck, Jackson Beck, all of Lexington, Natalie Beck of Charlotte, and Zachary Lewis, Savannah Joy Lewis and Daniel French, all of Vanceboro; honorary grandchild, Maria Hilliard; and brother, John Junior “Bill” Younts of Reedy Creek. Memorials may be made to Hedrick’s Grove Reformed UCC, 3840 Allred Road, Lexington, NC 27292; or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
