Grace Danner Chambless, age 84 of Bellwood Street, Lexington passed away Monday morning (November 8, 2010) at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton, NC after an extended illness. A Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday (November 14, 2010) in the Chapel of First Baptist Church where she was a member for over 50 years, with Dr. Ray Howell, III and Rev. Tommy Wilson officiating. Inurnment will be in First Baptist Church Columbarium.
The family will receive friends following the service in the parlor of First Baptist Church.
Ms. Chambless was born on April 2, 1926 in Northhampton, PA to Samuel George Danner and Emily Focht Danner. She was a retired employee of Lexington City Schools and a former employee of Davidson County Tax Department. She was also a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Althea D. Berg and Dolores Danner and a brother, Howard W. Danner.
Surviving are: her son, Dr. George W. Chambless and wife Amy of Oxford, GA; her daughter, Rebecca Chambless Scarff and husband Dr. John E. Scarff, Jr. of Lexington; her grandchildren, Adriane Chambless Brower and husband Michael of Patchogue, NY, Danner Rose Chambless of Durham, NC; Ellen Scarff Osswald and husband Dr. Sebastian Osswald of Monterey, CA; Dr. Jonathan R. Scarff and wife Anna of Louisville, KY; her great-grandson; Aiden Michael Brower; two sisters, Betty D. Wuchter and Marilyn D. Waltz both of , PA.
